For the second year now, Landbank is sponsoring some events with Philippine Coffee Board Inc. (PCBI) to raise the quality of coffee especially in Northern Luzon. New areas, like Kasibu and Santa Fe Nueva Vizcaya, are the target areas for new coffee plantings of the Arabica variety.
The Pick Red campaign has made farmers more conscious of correct coffee harvesting and processing methods. Because of it, communities were organized by Juliet Morales, long time coffee farmer from Kasibu. She invited PCBI chair Nicky Matti to lecture after several meetings with the cooperatives last 2015.
These activities continue to improve the coffee quality, making coffee farmers earn more income with their produce.
Landbank and the PCBI have been partners in this campaign for two years now. The farmers are also informed of Landbank’s Coffee 100 program which allows groups to borrow money for coffee production and processing.
